Working as a doctor can take over your life. Medicine may become like a monster which eats into everything else you want to do.

It can be overwhelming when there is so much to do and so little time. As a result you may find the rest of your life retreating into the background.

Your family and friends may not understand what life is like as a doctor and you may be disillusioned with the amount of time and energy you have to use up just getting through the day.

How long can you carry on like this?

My name is Susan Kersley and I was a doctor before I became a coach.

I understand the sort of life you lead  because I've experienced it while working for more than thirty years in the NHS. With Coaching  I will listen and challenge you to do things differently. If having a life outside of medicine seems impossible I'll teach you ways to make a difference.  I'll be your sounding board and motivate you to discover what you will do and then actually take action.

By connecting with who you are in addition to being a doctor, and reflecting on what is really important for you personally, rather than the demands of the system, you will find there is a world out there for you to enjoy much more.

With coaching you can discover ways to:

  • Be clear about what you want
  • Improve your work-life balance
  • Set clear boundaries
  • Improve your time management
  • Develop clear strategies for getting things done
  • Communicate more effectively
  • Develop more efficient systems

You can find out how to:

  • be more resourceful

  • work more efficiently

  • delegate effectively

  • look after yourself much better

Whatever your specialty or grade, you can have a  life, as well as being a doctor.

You can benefit from new personal insights about what is happening to you, and subsequently begin to feel more relaxed, less anxious and generally enjoy life once more to the full.

Coaching can encourage  and motivate you to start to make the changes you want to make.

I feel very optimistic now, in contrast with how I was feeling when I contacted you first last December. I very much appreciate the impartial support and advice you were able to give and have recommended life coaching to several people since.

Hi Susan, Thank you for your time this morning and for the materials you have sent on to me. I look forward to continuing to work with you on my coaching. As I said this morning, I feel your book has already given me a kick start. JC

I don't have any criticisms! I felt listened to and understood. I didn't feel I was being processed. I like the focused approach - with goals and things to work on. It worked well for me being spread out over a few months. GP
